Warmth in Steel

Change the goals and change the definition. Reducing the size and visual weight of the blade gave it warmth like no other knife.

Guillermo Del Toro commissioned legendary poster artist Drew Struzan to do this poster design for Pan’s Labyrinth. The movie studio ultimately refused to use the poster and opted for a more generic photoshopped design in lieu of Struzan’s hand painted work.

The sun setting. The lawns on fire.
The lost day, the lost light.
Why do I love what fades?

You who left, who were leaving,
what dark rooms do you inhabit?
Guardian of my death,

preserve my absence. I am alive.

Wonder.

I wonder if you’re awake,
Or if you still think of me.
Do you lay awake wondering,
If I’m thinking of you thinking of me?
Do you think about that day often?
The day we fell apart?
We had barely even said hello when i walked away.
To everyone, we were a mystery.
And they’ll never know as much as they think they do.
But they know we don’t see each other anymore.
And now they crack jokes and so do I sometimes,
And maybe you do too.
But I wonder if they have any idea
Of what we truly were.
The two of us were too shy to say “hi”
And we let it get in the way.
I let it get in the way.
Were we really that fragile?
Was I?
Weak enough to let them break through?
They’ll never understand how we were when we were together.
Just you and I.
And I know we were never that serious,
But I seriously liked you,
And we both chose to be afraid when we should have been close.
And when I realized that,
When I finally figured it out,
It was too late.
You tried so hard,
And it scared me how much you cared.
But now I stay up at night,
Listening to her tell me to be fearless.
And I should have been,
For you.
But we let them get in our way.
And it’s too late to say hello again, but I don’t want to hear goodbye.
So instead,
We’ll both say nothing,
And I’ll feel you looking at me when everyone else looks away.
Just like I did before we began.
And it makes me wonder if
We could try again.
